We refuse to be the surveillance layer.
Jottings is built to measure workflows, not people. Here is what it will never be used for - and what happens if someone tries.
You may not use Jottings to:
- Refusal 01
Track, evaluate, or discipline individual employees.
The product is deliberately engineered to surface workflows, not people. Any attempt to reverse-engineer individual performance metrics from Jottings data is a termination-of-service offense.
- Refusal 02
Run an observation without informed consent.
Every in-scope employee must see the consent screen on first run and receive the state-appropriate monitoring notice. No silent installs. Ever.
- Refusal 03
Deploy in regulated verticals before we have cleared them.
No healthcare, no law firms, no regulated finance during beta. Not because we cannot - because we will not until the compliance pack is right.
- Refusal 04
Scrape competitor environments, personal devices, or anyone who has not signed the tri-party DPA.
The agent will not run outside the engagement scope attested at install time. Attempts to re-scope mid-engagement require a new attestation by all three parties.
- Refusal 05
Use Jottings data to build products that profile or target individuals.
The DPA forbids it, the synthesis layer makes it technically unhelpful, and we will pull service the same day if we see it.
- Refusal 06
Repackage the Skill Dojo as your own product without a commercial license.
Referencing, contributing, and using Skill Cards in your engagements is encouraged. Rehosting the library verbatim is not.
What happens if someone violates this.
- We terminate service the same day.
- We purge engagement data under the standard 90-day schedule, accelerated on request.
- We notify every in-scope employee of the affected engagement, in plain language.
- We keep a public, anonymized log of terminations at /aup/log so the pattern is visible.
